And, tbh, i don’t want to be without her if we can help it.- Tanya PierceNEWPORT BEACH, CA, UNITED STATES, Octo/ /. My girlfriend would only move abroad with me when things get bad enough, but neither of us know what she defines as “bad enough”. But, I know my mum’s transphobic, my dad and stepmum are never sure where they stand on trans people, and my stepmum is emotionally and verbally abusive as fuck. I live with family (can’t afford to move out), have a girlfriend, have a good support network, and am (obviously) fluent in English. I’ve got family here in the UK, i have a stable and secure job earning just shy of £20k p/a with small bonuses and some benefits. Especially in the competitive Swiss job market. I have an Applied Science BTEC, I now work in IT, doing an apprenticeship so currently unqualified, therefore largely unemployable for tech roles. I have no degree, I have mid-tier GCSEs (thanks, previously undiagnosed mental & learning disorders), and a mid-tier Lvl 3 national diploma BTEC in a subject which i currently have no desire to work in. Aunt’s anti-medicine, vegan, “health freak”, and super holistic. Grandad’s old as hell, has pretty bad dementia, and probably doesn’t even know what a trans person is. My family over there would take me in, i’d have a place to stay and i’d be safe and secure, but I’m not out to them, and i have no idea of their views regarding trans people, which could be even more damaging (largely unfamiliar country, non-fluent, no stable source of income over there, etc.). ![]() Problem is, i’ve never lived there, my entire life has been in the UK, save for every summer and winter holiday, largely spent in Switzerland. I also have about £5k in a UBS bank account, and have some extra money outside of that in multiple different places. If you didn’t know, Switzerland is far more progressive than the UK for trans rights, with Self ID being the biggest thing imo.
